Soundtrack for silent movies ◗
In our outdoor live soundtrack series, we are once again presenting a true classic, Godfrey Reggio’s 1982 film Koyaanisqatsi. Koyaanisqatsi is a Hopi Indian word that roughly translates as ‘life out of balance’. The film contains absolutely no dialogue or other recorded sound, and only through images does it make some very serious statements about the relationship between man, nature and technology.
Philip Glass originally composed a similarly powerful and expressive soundtrack for the film, which will be used by Artúr Schallinger-Foidl, Zsolt Szabó and Bence Varga to improvise during the screening.
