The choreography of Swan Lake by Angelin Preljocaj, a leading figure in French contemporary dance, is magical and poetic, inventive, spectacular, full of references, but also looking at familiar scenes and figures with new eyes to give them new meaning.
Angelin Preljocaj pays homage to the great predecessors, drawing as much from neoclassicism as from electropop music. The choreographer creates each movement with his usual delicacy and breathes life into each scene of the ballet. Preljocaj keeps Petipa’s original framework and recreates Swan Lake from the inside. His performance is a reflection of our world today. A combination of exceptional movement, visual effects and lighting create a highly enjoyable Swan Lake performance for the audience.
The choreographer combines Tchaikovsky’s musical masterpiece with contemporary elements.
The musical basis of the score is Swan Lake, complemented by excerpts from overtures and symphonies from Tchaikovsky’s violin concertos.
Tchaikovsky’s sensual score meets 79D’s contemporary electropop music, accompanying a work in which the choreographer finds a natural expression of movement.
