Elte’s Botanical Garden will host a two-day guitar festival on 4 and 5 August. This exciting event will feature international and national solo acoustic guitar artists, creating a unique atmosphere. Furthermore, the great venue will be a perfect complement to the musical experience awaiting the audience.
4 August.
Marc Perin (IT) – Young guitar talent from Italy who, despite his young age, already has 4 studio albums to his name released. He basically uses a fingerstyle guitar technique enriched with percussive elements.
His music is influenced by Rodrigo y Gabriela, Tommy Emmanuel and Andrea Valeri.
Péter Légrády – One of the first and most influential figures in Hungarian fingerstyle guitar playing. As a member of 100 Folk Celsius, he has performed in numerous concerts, toured Europe and played in the United States.
He is not only an artist but also a teacher. He has taught many people from the acoustic music scene.
Tom Lumen – Festival host and internationally renowned guitarist. He has toured 15 countries. worldwide. His concerts are characterised by virtuoso guitar playing, exuberance and an uplifting atmosphere. His diverse music elements of blues, jazz, rock and Hungarian folk music, with songs that include
personal stories behind the songs.
5 August.
Stano Pocaji (SK) – One of Slovakia’s best known acoustic guitarists, he combines jazz improvisation with fingerstyle technique to great effect. He has performed all over the world in solo and duo performances as well as in various orchestral settings during his decade-long musical career. His engaging personality, endearingly humorous stories and, of course, his wonderful guitar playing, win the hearts of audiences almost immediately.
Sándor Papp – A finalist at the 1990 Paris Guitar Competition, Sándor Papp regularly gives concerts and courses at home and abroad. He has performed all over the world, from Australia to Europe and Mexico. Since 2019 he has been the Director of the Béla Bartók Institute of Music at the University of Miskolc. His repertoire includes classical and Latin elements. His recordings are regularly heard on Bartók Radio. He received his doctorate in performance from the Bratislava Academy of Music in 2007.
Crossing Strings (AT) – Exciting cross-over guitar duo from Austria, consisting of the fingerstyle guitarist Markus Schlesinger, already known to the Austrian audience, and classical guitarist Carina Lindner. Coming from two seemingly opposite worlds, these artists complement each other perfectly. In addition to their own compositions, they also perform covers of jazz, blues and various well-known tunes, occasionally spiced up with their excellent vocals.
Guitar course: on the Saturday morning, Stano Pocaji will give a course on fingerstyle guitar technique in jazz
improvisation in jazz. The course is free of charge for those who buy tickets for the festival, but the course is open to all.
