Family Day on Margaret Island

The Budapest 150 – Capital of Books 2023 event series invites you to a fabulous, family-friendly Saturday on 20 May. Free family and children’s programs await all visitors on Margaret Island, where literature, fairy tales and creative activities will be the main attractions. In addition, a colourful line-up of theatre performances will provide guests with joyful entertainment as well.

10:00: A Bees’ Tale for Children by the Klári Pataky Company
16:00 Dorka Mészáros, writer, reading theatre for over 16s – registration required (in the event)
20:30 A Mum is born! contemporary play – registration required (in the event)

10-16 h Children and family programs
-Whose bone, skin, hair is this? Find out at the Zoo’s TapiZoo program!
-Take home your palm print or make a magic wand, water animals and draw your family at the craft workshops of MeseTérkép, the Creative Creation Group and Anett Papp!
-Aware in the world: meet Anna Mechler and Zoltán Egressy, authors of the Elf Books.
-A discussion with Gusztáv Nagy, writer, poet and literary translator, organised by the RomKult Foundation.
-Watch animated short films and stories from the selection of the Friss Hús Budapest International Short Film Festival.
-The Brothers Grimm: Sleeping Beauty and Improvised Theatre with German language learning organised by the Goethe Institute.
-A literary-herbal trail and adventure play, as well as a themed walk with Varázskuckó.
-The Young Artists Studio’s and the Goethe Institute’s exhibition.
