Few running events in Budapest can match the atmosphere of the Budapest Night Run at Heroes’ Square. Combining a warm summer evening, illuminated city streets and some of the Hungarian capital’s most iconic landmarks, this race has become a favourite among both local and international runners.

The event starts at Heroes’ Square, one of Budapest’s most famous landmarks, before taking participants through the city centre after dark. Running through the illuminated streets offers a completely different perspective on Budapest, turning a race into a memorable urban experience.

The half marathon is the main event, but runners can choose from several race formats depending on their goals and experience level:

Half Marathon (21 km) – Individual
Half Marathon Relay – 2-person team
Half Marathon Relay – 3-person team
Quarter Marathon – Individual

The route showcases Budapest at its most beautiful, with the city’s evening lights creating a spectacular backdrop throughout the race. Whether running solo or as part of a relay team, participants can enjoy a unique combination of sport, sightseeing and summer-night atmosphere.

After crossing the finish line, runners can relax in the nearby greenery of City Park (Városliget), providing the perfect place to recover and celebrate the achievement.

The popularity of the event is reflected in the fact that the 2026 edition is officially sold out, with all available race entries already claimed well before race day.
