A unique concert of talented cellists, winners of international competitions, can be enjoyed on Sunday 23 March 2025 in the Large Concert Studio of the Slovak Radio, where the greatest hits of film music will be performed.
The cello quartet composed of Petr Špaček, Matěj Štěpánek, Jan Zemen and Ivan Vokáč has become famous not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the world and on YouTube and wherever they have set foot in the world. They leave behind sold-out halls, original concert experiences and millions of views. The members of the changed line-up were originally part of the Prague Cello Quartet, which became famous on YouTube – their adaptation of the main melody of the musical The Phantom of the Opera has more than 43 million views there.
Despite their completely different characters and worldviews, the two Concert Masters of the Czech Philharmonic, a “crossover star” and a conservatory professor, have come together with the goal of presenting music as something current, alive and essential, almost like the air we breathe.
They are throwing away the safe seriousness of institutions and blurring the boundary between stage and audience. They come up with a concert concept with the subtitle “no limits“, where they erase the previous limits of the technical possibilities of the cello, complemented by a “stand up comedy show”, where on the one hand they explain and gloss over the music, on the other hand they put it in the context of human stories and anecdotes from everyday life. Their concerts are therefore accessible to the general public as well as to the avid classical music listener, specialist.
They continue to pursue their artistic vision further – to make music at the highest level, in original elaborate arrangements and with a good dose of humour.
An unforgettable experience awaits you!
