Do you like astronomy? Or do you just like stargazing or want to experience something unusual? Have you ever observed the universe with a professional telescope? Devín Castle together with the Slovak Astronomers’ Union invite you to the Night Sky Observation over Devín on 16 February at 5:30 pm.
This experience will be taken care of in the exteriors of Devín Castle in cooperation with professionals from the Slovak Association of Astronomers.
With their interpretation and assistance, you will have the opportunity to observe the night sky and point your telescope at celestial objects such as Jupiter, the Moon, binary stars, as well as deep space objects – galaxies and nebulae. 💫
You will need to bring your own flashlight, torch or headlamp, with red light function.
Additional information and recommendations:
– 🧦 We recommend dressing warmly and wearing shoes. The event will take place in the exterior of Devín Castle, during the winter months and after dark the temperature may feel low.
– 🚨 For the best viewing experience, please use only red light throughout the event, which will not interfere with the eye’s adjustment to darkness. After illuminating the eye with the white light of a flashlight or cell phone display, it takes at least 20 minutes for the eye to re-adapt to the dark!
– 🔦 If you do not have a flashlight with a red light, wrap a regular flashlight with red cellophane, red foil, or red cloth.
– 👶🏻 This event is suitable for children ages 5 and up with the purchase of a ticket required.
The event is organized in cooperation with the Slovak Association of Astronomers.
💨 In case of bad weather, the date is subject to change.
