Reading with the little ones: chattering tongues and clever fingers. Experiential reading for parents with children up to 3 years of age based on the book The Greedy Caterpillar (by Eric Carle).
Language games and fine motor skills to develop children’s mental and pre-reading skills with Ludmila Hrdináková, an expert in children’s literacy.
How hungry can one little caterpillar who has just hatched from an egg be? Believe it or not, she could eat the whole world! If not the whole world, then at least everything that comes her way in the wide world, and there is no shortage of it: different kinds of fruit, cake, ice cream, sour cucumber, lollipop, or sausage. After so many treats, her stomach hurts. She decides to fast on Sundays and have only green leaf for lunch. Then, just to be on the safe side, she will take a nap for a while. But what happens after that? Who will come out of the chrysalis? Will it be the same greedy caterpillar that has in the meantime “burrowed” into our hearts again?
A simple text that, through repetitive phrases, teaches children to count, to recognise fruit and other delicacies, and finally shows them one of the most beautiful natural phenomena, which in children’s eyes takes on the proportions of a miracle. The Greedy Caterpillar also uses unusual printing techniques, which makes the book even more appealing and gives room for many interactive games.
