On Sunday 14.04.2024, STARS Auditorium will host a unique and original combination of two Slovak/world artistic bodies. The director and choreographer Ján Ďurovčík brings the spontaneous and lively culture of the nomadic Gypsies to the stage in a brand new, captivating music and dance show full of surprising and breathtaking dance scenes performed by the Slovak Dance Theatre and virtuoso dulcimer solos by Ernest Šarközi and the other members of the Gypsy Devils Orchestra.
Ján Ďurovčík’s music and dance show “Gypsies Go to Heaven” is inspired by the legendary story of the Moldovan director Emil Loteanu, who sold out cinemas and won awards at film festivals in the 1970s. The original film is based on Maxim Gorky’s short stories and is set in the northeast of the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy.
Our most prestigious modern ballet dance company. His art has been applauded by audiences all over the world ˗ from New York, Beijing, London, Rome to Tokyo and other world capitals.
Gypsy Devils are one of the world’s top ethno world music bands. They have performed on the most prestigious stages in 35 countries on 5 continents. Since 2007 they have represented Slovakia and collaborated with many musical ensembles and artists of different genres (symphony orchestras, popular interprets, classical interprets, dance groups, etc.). Enthusiastic reviews in world periodicals such as the New York Times, El Pais, China Daily, and Helsingin Sanomat guarantee an experience that audiences around the world and in Bratislava, as well as in other Slovak cities, can look forward to.”
