Sound of the Library: the Son of the Executioner(th). The Old Town Library has produced a series of three events based on experimental sound performances. Under the title The Sound of the Library, which deliberately paraphrases the well-known hip-hop Sound of the Street, three ambient and experimental projects will be presented by Dominik Novák – Katov Syn(th), Jori Morski – Untitled Sea and Oleksandra Potrohosh – Kasha. Some of the performers will use real library sounds in their performances, such as rustling pages of books or the sounds of children’s playbooks, and incorporate them into the overall composition.
The first of these is Dominik Novák, aka Katov Syn(th), who, in addition to showcasing the vivid possibilities of his modular synthesizer, will be performing his upcoming EP live.
KATOV SYN(TH)
Dominik Novák is a multi-instrumentalist and music producer, currently active in the bands Kúpel Mysle, Kultúra Smrti and the audiovisual project The Blackwood Incident. His solo work under the alias Katov Syn(th) is characterized by a combination of tape loops, analog synthesis and feedback. It can be heard, for example, on The Blackwood Incident’s debut album Curse of the Tribe or in Sonia Kudelova’s dance performances Autopilot and Autocorrect.
