The Days of ÚĽUV Masters 2023 festival will traditionally take place on the first weekend in September (2 – 3 September 2023) at Hviezdoslav Square, Rybno Square and Panská Street in front of Bibiana in Bratislava’s Old Town.
The main theme of the 33rd annual festival of traditional crafts Days of ÚĽUV masters will be natural knitting, which is the central theme of ÚĽUV for 2023. You can look forward to more than a hundred folk-art producers and masters from all over Slovakia, a zone with natural knitting and knitting demonstrations made of straw, willow wicker, willow wicker, swamp bat, bark or pine roots.
You will see a wide variety of crafts and home-made products – blacksmithing, tinkering, splitting and splitting wood, wood carving, pottery, embroidery, leatherwork, basketry, lace making, loom weaving, Easter egg decorating, glass painting, musical instrument making and many more.
An integral part of the festival is the ÚĽUV School of Crafts with creative workshops for children, which is currently applying for inclusion in the UNESCO World List of Good Practices for the Protection of Living Heritage.
The atmosphere will be completed by dishes of traditional Slovak cuisine, such as bryndzové halušky from the Masters of Haluškárov, Pukanské párance, Legendary buchty – Zbojská, Podpecníky from Mojmírovce, trdelníky or poppy products from Jarná.
The Slovak Commission for UNESCO took over the patronage of the event. The festival is also held thanks to the financial support of the CAP Foundation and is part of the Bratislava Cultural Summer 2023 project.
