Looking for a festival that’s a little out of the ordinary? From September 3 to 16, 2026, the 26th International Literature Festival Berlin will transform the capital into a global hub for contemporary literature, inspiring discussions, and artistic exchange.

The International Literature Festival Berlin (ilb) is one of the world’s most important literary events and will once again bring an international lineup to Berlin in 2026.

What can you expect at the 26th ilb?

Over 100 authors from around 40 countries will present contemporary prose, poetry, nonfiction, political discourse, and graphic novels.
Under the motto “You are born with your face turned everywhere,” the festival combines literature with live music, performance art, and dance.

From September 3 to 12, you can look forward to a diverse program of literature and related events, and from September 6 to 16, the Young People’s Program will also take place – a specially curated selection of interactive readings and workshops for children and young people.

2026 Highlights:

– Jeet Thayil (India): The award-winning author, poet, and musician will shape the ilb 2026 as Curator in Residence with interdisciplinary projects and the ILB House Band.

– Bernardine Evaristo (Great Britain): The Booker Prize winner (Girl, Woman, etc.) is one of the leading international voices in contemporary literature.

– David Grossman (Israel): The world-renowned Peace Prize laureate and novelist will enrich the festival with readings and panel discussions.

– Olga Tokarczuk (Poland): The Nobel laureate in Literature captivates Berlin audiences with her multifaceted works.

– Tsitsi Dangarembga (Zimbabwe): The renowned author and filmmaker brings powerful perspectives on contemporary African literature to the stage.

The “Festival Kitchen” will also be available, offering delicious food and drinks.
