The Santa Llúcia Christmas Fair is one of Barcelona’s oldest and most beloved Christmas traditions. Dating back to 1786, it takes place in the square in front of the Cathedral, where more than 160 stalls fill the historic centre with a festive atmosphere. Visitors can find nativity figures, Christmas trees, ornaments, wreaths, handicrafts and original gifts. It is also a wonderful opportunity to discover some of Catalonia’s most distinctive Christmas traditions, including the famous caganer and the traditional decorations used in nativity scenes. Its location in the heart of the Gothic Quarter makes it an essential stop during the festive season.
