Jana Farmanová, the author of the exhibition, is one of the most respected Slovak painters, a fundamental colourist focusing on the expression of light and colour. Jana is one of the greatest Slovak artists. For her, working with traditional painting has always been a challenge to develop techniques in a seemingly outdated medium.
Recent (nostalgic) motives of her works are natural human aging in symbiosis with nature, family and love. Hortus Conclusus is taken from Christian mysticism where it means “enclosed garden” – a safe place for the painter to create her work, a unifying element for her creativity.
