This Renaissance palace built by Prussian elector Joachim II in the middle of the Grunewald is the oldest surviving palace in Berlin. Every Advent weekend, it becomes the fairy-tale backdrop for the traditional Christmas market. Local craftsmen and artists offer their original products in the romantic palace courtyard on the shores of the Grunewaldsee, while fairy-tale characters such as Mother Holle, Hansel and Gretel or Cinderella’s stepmother mingle with the visitors.
